Professor HAO Luoxi from College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University was elected Vice-President of CIE through ballots by 23 national committee representatives at the Executive Board meeting 2018 of International Commission on Illumination, also known as the CIE from its French title, the Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage on October 17 th. The new Vice-President-elect, nominated by China Illuminating Engineering Society (China National Commission on Illumination) is expected to serve a four-year term of office from 2019 to 2023, mainly responsible for publishing.
CIE was founded in 1913 and is based in Vienna, Austria today. It is the most influential international authority on light, illumination, color, and color spaces with strong technical, scientific and cultural foundations.
Prof. HAO Luoxi has devoted herself to the teaching, research and project design related to light and lighting, vision, color and illumination for years. She has completed a number of megaprojects as the project leader, including the night-illumination planning and design of EXPO 2010 Shanghai and the special plan of night-illumination construction and management of Pudong New District. She has successfully led her team in conducting a range of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary evidence-based design and research, focusing on the lighting and health of human settlement in recent years. Her research result of an Intervention System for Healthy Lighting to Improve Mood and Rhythm has been applied, on an exemplary basis, in cardiac catheterization operation, postoperative rehabilitation of severe patients, orthopedic and brain emergency surgeries, maternal delivery, daily life of elders with dementia, and space and environment for Antarctic expeditioners’ coping strategies in summer-over & winter-over life.
