The 9th International Conference on Asian Marine Geology (ICAMG-9), an important academic event in the field of ocean and earth sciences, was held at Tongji University from October 10th to 12th. More than 670 participants from over 140 marine research institutions in 25 countries and regions gathered in Tongji for academic exchange and cooperation. Thirty sessions were arranged on the themes of coastal and shelf marine geology, paleoceanography and paleoenvironmental changes, marine tectonics, geophysics and geoharzards, submarine resources, climate changes in polar regions and ocean drilling. The conference received a total of 582 abstracts. Six invited key note speeches by internationally-renowned scholars, 298 presentations and 256 posters were presented during the conference.

The conference was co-organized by the State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology, Tongji University, IODP (International Ocean Discovery Program)-China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. the Asian Marine Geology Conference was initiated jointly by Professor Wang Pinxian from Tongji University, Professor Asahiko Taira, director of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), and Professor Yong Ahn Park from Seoul National University, Korea.
