On the afternoon of May 15th, the opening ceremony of the 1st ‘Dream and Fly’ Aviation Science and Technology Festival of the School of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics was held at the Sino-French Center at the Siping Campus, Tongji University. Prof. DONG Yaohai, a researcher from the Institute of Satellite Engineering of the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology and is also a satellite chief engineer, attended the ceremony together with people from the University Student Office, people from the University Youth League Committee, the heads of the School of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics, and more than 200 students from the School.
After the opening ceremony, the Master Lecture opened as part of the series activities of the Festival. The theme of the first presentation was China’s Meteorological Satellite, which was led by Prof. DONG Yaohai. Mr. DONG has long been engaged in the research and development of the FY-series Meteorological Satellites. He is the chief designer of the FY-4 Satellite, is a member of the Standing Science Committee of the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, and was responsible for the research and development of China’s Second-generation FY-4 Meteorological Satellite.
The Festival will last two weeks. As scheduled, there will be many other activities to be held in the coming weeks, including the Future Aviation Science and Technology Competition, the Four-Axle Aircraft Design Competition, master lectures in the aviation and aerospace fields, student academic forums, lectures, and other large-scale activities to promote aviation science.
