On May 11th, the ‘Photography, Oil Painting and Model Work Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Bridges at Jiangnan Water Towns’ was held at the Tongji University Museum.
SHI Guanyun, Secretary-General of the Jiangnan Ancient Bridge Culture Research Association, also an alumnus of Tongji University, and SUN Limin, Head of the Department of Bridge Engineering, Tongji University, addressed the audience at the opening ceremony. LU Dekun, Chairman of the HENGJI Construction Development Co, LTD. (HJJS), also the co-organizer of the exhibition, announced the opening.
The ‘Photography, Oil Painting and Model Work Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Bridges at Jiangnan Water Towns’ was organized by the members of the Tongji University Museum and the Jiangnan Ancient Bridge Culture Research Association, in collaboration with HJJS and the Department of Bridge Engineering of Tongji University. Among the displayed works were 75 photographs that stood out in the ‘Jiangnan Ancient Bridge Photography Contest’ held by the Jiangnan Ancient Bridge Culture Research Association and HJJS, and 25 ancient bridge paintings and 3 ancient bridge models by PAN Haiyang, an oil painter and a member from the Jiangnan Ancient Bridge Culture Research Association. The exhibition was designed to allow the audience to savor the ancient bridges at Jiangnan (the south of the Yangtze River) water towns, promote their awareness for the protection of historical and cultural heritage, and encourage them to strive to inherit the fine traditional cultures.
