On Apr. 15th, the 10thNational Finals of ‘China Speaks!’ International Competition (College Level) was held at Beihang University. QUAN Ying, a student from the English Department of the College of Foreign Languages, Tongji University, won Second Prize in the Finals. QUAN was coached by HE Jihong, an Associate Professor from the College, during her run-up to the contest.
Supported by the Culture and Education Section of the British Embassy, the ‘China Speaks!’ International Competition remains a top-notch international English contest, which is organized jointly by the English-Speaking Union, the China International Development Center of Quality Education for Youngsters, and the International Internet Children's Television, bringing together a group of excellent participants with high English proficiency, even including those who were acclaimed as champions or runners-up in some top level national English competitions, such as the FLTRP Cup, the 21 Century Cup, and the New Oriental Cup.
Prior to the National Finals, online preliminary rounds and contests at the city and regional levels had been held respectively. QUAN’s wining of the prize is a tribute to her outstanding English proficiency.
