Indigo and Blue, the themed exhibition of painting works by Tongji teachers and students, opened in the Tongde Building on the Jiading Campus, on Jan. 1st. Mr. MA Jinming, Deputy Party Secretary, made the announcement at the opening ceremony. The exhibition was hosted by the Publicity Department of Party Committee at Tongji University and was co-organized by Party Working Committee on the Jiading Campus and Party Committee in the College of Art and Media(CAM), Tongji University.
The collection on display included paintings by Prof. YU Peng, Mr. ZHAO Wenliang, and Mr. ZHANG Jianyong from the CAM, and those by their students. In Chinese, we have a saying, ‘indigo blue is extracted from the indigo plant but is bluer than the plant it comes from,’ which means ‘the pupil excels the master.’ And therefore, the name of the exhibition, Indigo and Blue, implied the teachers` kind wishes for their students that they would keep moving for their future career, strive for innovations, and paint their own colorful life.
The exhibition will last for 15 days and the closing ceremony will be held Jan. 26th.
