Sritawat Kitipornchai Appointed as Honorary Professor

A ceremony to mark the appointment of Mr. Sritawat Kitipornchai, academician of both the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA), took place in the College of Civil Engineering (CCE) at Tongji University recently. Mr. GU Xianglin, Vice President of Tongji University, presented Mr. Kitipornchai the Honorary Professorship certificate and expressed his gratitude for Mr. Kitipornchai joining the faculty members of Tongji University.

Mr. Kitipornchai said it was a great honor to receive the Honorary Professorship from Tongji University. For years to come, he would proactively push forward the cooperation between Tongji University and such renowned international universities and institutes,such as the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia, for CCE`s development in structural stability, computational mechanics, and smart materials, as well as its better global academic reputation.

Mr. Sritawat Kitipornchai is a professor at UQ, academician of the ATSE and the EASA, and editor-in-chief ofEngineering Structures, a leading journal on structural engineering in the world. Besides, Mr. Kitipornchai holds senior positions in a number of international academic institutes, includingASCE(The American Society of Civil Engineers), ICE(Institution of Civil Engineers), RICS(Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), HKIE(The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers), and IEAust (Engineers Australia). He has a long-term speciality in and a profound influence on structural stability, steelworks, transmission tower, computational and smart materials, and enjoys an international prestige in structural engineering. To date, his papers published on journals listed in the Science Citation Index (SCI) have been cited over 8,000 times in total. And his h-index value has reached48.
