The 7thTongji University Middle School Students Structural Design Invitational Contest was held at the Siping Campus of Tongji University, September 21 - 24. There, 218 teachers and students from 48 renowned middle schools across 25 provinces participated the contest.

The contest was composed of five major programs, including civil engineering, machinery and energy engineering, material science and engineering, mapping and geographic information, as well as astronautics and mechanics engineering, with each closely related to its corresponding professional field. Designers of the contest were all professors from their respective disciplines. The ingeniously designed contest made possible by these professors not only examined the theoretical competence of the contestants, but challenged their practical ability.

This event was highly appreciated by the vast majority of middle school teachers and students, with an increasing number of middle schools applying for the entry. Contestants in the competition were required to be proficient in both the application of mathematical knowledge and the mastery of relevant professional concepts, coupled often with the broadening of knowledge scope. Some middle schools have conducted similar structural contests and invited some teachers and students from Tongji University to provide professional guidance, refining their teams through rigorous competition and selection.
