On September 20thand 21st, Vice President of Tongji University Jiang Bo attended the 2017 University Presidents Forum of the University Alliance of ‘Belt and Road’ (UAB&R) held in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, during which he made a keynote speech.
JIANG first shared a ‘Tongji story’ in the construction of the ‘One Belt and One Road’ in his speech. He pointed out that Tongji University had set up a ‘Belt and Road’ Collaborative Center in 2014, and incorporated it into the system of the National Institute of Innovation and Development in 2016 which was a national think tank still under construction. Recent years have seen Tongji University conducting a series of research projects and activities in many fields, such as scientific and technological innovation, humanistic communication, and cooperative training, which has strengthened communication and cooperation with countries along the “One Belt and One Road” and has achieved remarkable results.
In his speech, JIANG highlighted that Tongji University will remain committed to making its most contribution to the development ofthe “One Belt and One Road”Initiative while continuing its efforts to work arduously in the motherland. He called upon the colleges and universities at the forum to put the unique advantages of higher education into full play, and to engage in the ‘Co-Consultation, Co-Construction and Co-Sharing’ in a responsive and proactive manner. Only in this way can we contribute to the establishment of a long-term mechanism of the ‘One Belt and One Road’, thus constantly improving the capacity and level of the ‘One Belt and One Road’ construction on a practical basis.
