The 14^thChinese Chess Game for Retired Faculty in Shanghai opened on Xuhui Campus, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, September 21^st-22^nd.Retired teachers WANG Xinfu, TENG Zongde, HOU Peiyuan, and MA Fuding, representing Tongji University, entered this game organized by Retired Faculty Management Association in Shanghai.

Both individual and team competition systems were employed in the game. Altogether 80 chess players from 22 universities in Shanghai (including Tongji University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Shanghai Second Polytechnic University) competed on the chessboard. After a fierce rivalry, a three-member Tongji team comprised of WANG Xinfu, TENG Zongde, and HOU Peiyuan won First Place, which was the 6^thtime for teachers from Tongji to snatch the crown. Moreover, TENG Zongde, HOU Peiyuan, and WANG Xinfu ranked second, fifth, and sixth, respectively, during the individual competition.

Our chess team of retired faculty was set up in 2015, aiming at a kaleidoscopic cultural life for retirees of Tongji. The team is also a platform for recreation, learning, and amateur contest, as well.
