The selection of model educators in Shanghai aims to discover and honor leading educators who have made distinguished achievements in teaching. Through careful peer review and public announcement, Prof. ZHENG Shiling, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as well as a teacher in College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University, has been selected as one of the ten model educators of year 2017 in Shanghai.
Prof. ZHENG is not only a sagacious and precise scholar, but a respectable teacher who spares as much time as needed to meet his students’ needs. He is always keen on discussing academic issues with them, recommending books in their interests, and kindly encouraging them to work hard. ZHENG is, therefore, congenially called ‘the beloved teacher of both wisdom and gentility’ by his students.
