The themed social practice, ‘Young Inspiration, Far-reaching Dream,’ organized by the university art center was set in motion on August 18th. Altogether,20 members of the practice (including students and instructors of the university troupe, as well as members of staff from art center) left for Lizhuang High School in Sichuan Province.

This was the first attempt by our university to launch an aesthetic education program in a high school. The social practice group taught knowledge about artistic appreciation to students in grade one and three, and trained them for skills in performance based on the present situation in Lizhuang High School as well as on the specialties of the group members. The social practice group focused mainly on the following courses: elementary music theory, traditional music appreciation, voice training, dancing, hosting and language art, and physique performance.
This social practice group was highly praised by both the teachers and students in Lizhuang High School, receiving accolades such as: “I have enjoyed the lessons taught by these young teachers.” WANG Huiming, a student from Class 7 of Grade 3, said gleefully, “I have learned useful performing skills and much knowledge in a relaxed and joyful ambience. It was in these lessons that I realized the richness and attraction of art.” Overall, the group’s goals were well achieved at this event.
