International Joint Research Center ofEarthquake Engineering, Tongji University was authorized bythe Ministry of Science and Technology as China international S&T cooperation base 2016on Nov. 29th, 2016.

The China international S&T cooperation base wasauthorized by the accreditation office of the Ministry of Science and Technology with intent to improve the efficiency and quality of international cooperation in science and technologyand to extend the integration of “projects-talents-bases” in cooperation. China international S&T cooperation bases fall into four types: international innovation park, international joint research center, international technology transfer center and international scientific cooperationdemonstration center. China has a total of 169 national level international joint research centers at present.

This new center at the national level marked the great progress in international science and technology cooperation and a new breakthrough in building national level science and technology cooperation platformsof our university. It laid solid foundation for further implementation of “innovation-driven development” strategy and national science and technology innovation planning in the13th Five-Year Plan.
