IEEE/ACM Ninth International Conference on Utility and Cloud Computing (UCC 2016) and IEEE/ACM Third International Conference on Big Data Computing, Applications and Technologies (BDCAT 2016) were held at Sino-French Centre of Tongji UniversityA few days ago . A total of 150 experts from 40 countries across five continents who work in the field of big data and cloud computing participated in the conferences. Professor JIANG Changjun from Tongji University, Professor Nick Antonopoulos, Dean of School of Engineering from University of Derby and Professor Omer F. Rana, a world-famous pundit of cloud computing served as presidents of the conferences. These conferences were the only one of its kind in the field of cloud computing and big data that were sponsored by Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

There were invited keynote speeches, workshops, PhDstudent forums, poster displays, seminars andtutorial sessionsduring the conferences.

Since 2009 when UCC was initiated, it has beenconvenedin different countries including the U.S., the U.K.and Germanywith around 150 participants each yearfor nine consecutive years. The conference which has gained an extensive academic reputation is of great significancein the world over the years.
