On November 16th, the 3rd World Internet Conference was held at Wuzhen Town, Zhejiang Province. General secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of the People's Republic of China XI Jinping delivered an important video speech and put forward the initiative of Building a Community of Common Future in Cyberspace.

The theme of this conference is Innovation-driven Internet Development for the Benefit of All – Building a Community of Common Future in Cyberspace. Vice President of Tongji University, Prof. WUZhiqiang was invited to make a presentationon Intelligent Buildings of Smart Townsin the session of Digital Economy--Sino-foreign Dialogue between Government andEnterprises:Internet Leads the Innovative Development of Small Towns.He mentioned the objective laws governing urban development, people’s increasingly rational cognition on mechanism of urban construction, operation and management, application of digital technology and big data in urban planning. He brought up the idea of “interconnected riverside scene” in the case study of the planning of Zhenbei Road, Wuzhen, in which he showedapathway of developing an Interconnected Smart Town for Wuzhen, turningit to an exemplary town characterized by internet connections, a realization of the idea of Community of Common Future in Cyberspace.

Members of China Intelligent Urbanization Co-creation Center for High Density Region and Project Team of Wuzhen Planning, Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning &Design Institute were invited to attend the conference.
