The 9th National College Students Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Competition themed on social practice, science and technology came to a successful end in Jiangsu University,Zhenjiang City in August 2016. The competition was organizedby the Higher Education Departmentof the Ministry of Education and hosted by the Education Steering Committee of College Energy and PowerTeachingof MOEand Jiangsu University. Tongji University walked away with one first prize and two second prizes, and an award for Excellent Organizationout ofthree entries in the final. Earlier on, five entries were awarded with third prizesin the first round of the competition. It was the best results ever in recent years since Tongji University took part in this competition.

The Energy Saving and Emission Reduction competition themed on social practice, science and technology is part of acampaign on School in Action for Energy Saving and Emission Reduction, organizedby the Higher Education Departmentof the Ministry of Education and hosted by the Education Steering Committee of CollegeEnergy and Power Teaching of the Ministry of Education. It is not only one of the most influential student events in the field of energy and power, but also one of the student extracurricular activities ofgreat significanceamong colleges and universities in China.
