Internationalization, innovation and entrepreneurship are the key words of the summer school series, which took place simultaneously in Munich, Mexico City and Shanghai. The Internet and international calls served as powerful tools at the Venture Valley for people from different countries to share their knowledge about and explore the future of entrepreneurship. Through the internet, students could get access to a series of lectures and speeches by renowned entrepreneurs at two other cities. The real-time communication and “twinned projects” enabled students to think globally in their finding entrepreneurial solutions for social issues in the process of urbanization. At least one speech was shared each day during the 7-day summer school. Experts from Tongji University, including Professor WU Jiang, executive vice president of the University, Professor LOU Yongqi, dean of College of Design and Innovation, and Professor LIU Shuyan, executive dean of the international school, delivered a series of speeches, discussing the role of makers at present time with “makers” from all over the world. Entrepreneurs from leading companies like Jingwei-Group, Relay Fund and TusIncubator were invited to share their cutting-edge knowledge with the international students. China’s top Entrepreneurship Service Organizations such as XNode, China’s Business Incubator Demonstration Base for Graduating Students and TusIncubator also joined hands with the summer school to provide supervision to students on entrepreneurship. Highly inspired students came up with creative ideas that were both potentially operational and highly practical.
