Tongji Student Took the First Gold Medal at the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships

At the 14th Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships held in Inchon, South Korea from 11th to 20th June, the Chinese aerobic gymnastics team carried off two gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal, and took the team championship for the first time. Xu Xuesong and Jiang Shuai, students from Tongji University, and Shou Minchao, a faculty member from Department of Physical Education, Tongji University, participated in the Championships on behalf of the Chinese aerobic gymnastics team and won two gold medals for the categories of Team and Groups and one silver medal for Step. Xu Xuesong became the first student and the second person (after a PE teacher Shou Minchao) from Tongji University who took the gold from the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships.

The Chinese aerobic gymnastics team took part in seven competitions of Men’s Individual, Women’s Individual, Mixed Pairs, Trios, Groups, Dance and Step, and walked off with two gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal. Xu Xuesong participated in Groups won the Chinese team a gold medal together with other members; Jiang Shuai joined two others in the Trios and came sixth, and he was awarded with the title of Internationally Top-notch Sportsman. Shou Minchao both coached the aerobic training of student competitors and participated in Step. As a result, the aerobics won two silver medals and he came 2nd place in Step.
