The Tongji on Tracks 2016 was opened in Germany weeks ago.
On 6th and 7th June, 14 students from the Tongji on Tracks program arrived at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, the first stop of an overseas trip, for a two-day intensive training program.
The students of Tongji on Tracks received a warm welcome from the students and faculty members of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Professor Orestis Terzidis from Entrepreneurship and Technology Management designed a two-day program of lectures and workshops tailored for the students from Tongji. He introduced basic concepts of entrepreneurship, the role of market and technology to startup companies, and the analyzing methods of pragmatic values and business models. The four lectures sandwiched with three workshops by Professor Terzidis revolved around the theme of Lighting and students were asked to conceive and develop their own new products of lighting. The integration of theory and practice enabled the students to understand and experience the whole process of analyzing entrepreneurial environment, choosing the content, refining the products and services, and selling product concepts. The students popped up with creative product ideas from the intelligent lighting services for home users to light display for professional users, which showcased a huge potential of interdisciplinary cooperation among students from different academic background.
On the last night at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the students were invited to have a discussion with PionierGarage, a student entrepreneurial organization with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, on hot topics like Industry 4.0 and social media, where both German and Chinese students shared their experience and thoughts regarding entrepreneurship and innovation in China and Germany.
