On May 27th, the Global Village Day activities, part of the the Ninth Tongji Global Village activity series, was held at the Music Square and the lawn in front of Xinan Building on Siping campus, Tongji University. Twenty-six exhibitions from 69 countries were on display, which attracted more than 3000 overseas and 1000 Chinese students from Tongji University and other colleges and universities in Shanghai.

Chinese and international students the initiatives in organizing the brand event to promote cultures from different countries with the help of the Student Union under the guidance of the Tongji Youth League Committee and International Students Office. The theme of the event was Time and countries were grouped by time zones. Four activity series were planned including an evening party for the opening ceremony along with a Villages Show, a parade, themed national exhibitions and a variety show for the closing ceremony.

To implement the green, environment-friendly and sustainable concept, the event released information of the activity series on its information platform at the school and Student Union levels instead of giving out paper-based programs for the evening party and variety show and cutting the print of leaflets and posters. When the event came to an end, paper and poster boards were collected for recycling to reduce waste of resources.
