On May, 21st, Tongji University and SAIC Motor Corporation Limited (SAIC Motor) signed a Cooperative Agreement on the Establishment and Management of Smart Networked Automobile Testing and Evaluation Base, the first of this kind in China, which will be built and operated by both sides at Jiading Campus, Tongji University. It will be an essential part of the first pilot smart networked automobile zone in China jointly run by Shanghai International Automobile City, Tongji University and SAIC Motor.
The future of the automobile industry tends to be smart and networked. Smart and networked automobiles will make good use of such apparatus as the sensor, controller and performer to share information about the driver, car and road to realize automatic driving.
The Smart Networked Automobile Testing and Evaluation Base under the agreement will become a world class public R&D platform for the research and development, testing and evaluation of smart networked automobiles, covering over 100 scenarios necessary to tests on smart automobiles through in-the-loop tests and Hardware-in-the-Loop（HIL）simulation in real-road test environment.
