The afternoon of November the 5th witnessed a small-sized indoor concert entitled Piano Trio of Kolner. The event took place on the third floor of the library in Jiading Campus, with over a hundred students in attendance. . They all appreciated the concert particularly for its unique open style of performing, the students present were also deeply impressed by the charm of being able to listen classical music closely.

The concert jointly sponsored by Administrative Committee Office, Youth League Committee and library in Jiading Campus was undertaken by College of Arts and Media. Prior to the beginning, Professor Xie Lujun introduced the artists, instruments and the pieces to be showcased in the performance, as well as shared the tactics of appreciating indoor concerts. He encouraged all students to be immersed in the art and hoping that this performance would boost their music appreciation. Walter Schreiber, the guest professor of our university and prestigious violinist coming from Germany, famous cellist Joanna Sachryn as well as Sui Xin, teacher specializing in piano in the Department of Music who serves as the art director of indoor concert, jointly performed the works pertaining to indoor music of Beethoven like Piano Trio Pather Panchali, the sonata consisting of cello and piano and the trio Ghost with the piano, violin as well as the cello. The respective music adeptly performed by three performers interwove with each other, whose overall melody create a fascinating harmonic world where one was lost track of time and space.

The concert, sponsored by the Management Committee Office of Jiading Campus, was one of thecampus lecture seriesin the fields of social sciences, humanities and arts, and also part of the event “Concert Week” recently held on Siping Campus by the College of Arts and Media. The organizing teachers revealed that such activities would be conducted in Jiading Campus on a more frequent basis, in order to contribute to the promotion of its artistic and cultural atmosphere, the prosperity of campus culture, and the frequency of the faculty and students’ exposure to the arts. It’s believed that the Administrative Committee Office of Jiading Campus will work in partnership with such functional departments as various Colleges, Publicity Departments, Communist Youth League Committees and libraries of Tongji University to launch high-end campus lectures on humanities, social sciences, and arts that are open to faculty and students as well as people in Anting Community, in an effort to enrich students’ extracurricular activities,and especially toenhance campus humanistic culture and artistic atmosphere. Furthermore, lecturers will comprise not only scholars and specialists from Tongji University, but also other notorious names in the wider community.. The notices regarding the lectures will be released via school website, electronic screen, WeChat of School Communist Youth League Committee and that of library of Jiading Campus to timely inform faculties and students.
