On the eve of October 29, Jiading library was full of fragranced ink where students from all over the world participated in the event of Chinese calligraphy, it is one of the many culture-experiencing activities for International students; "Once in China, Love my Jiading". There were many volunteers that helped organize and be part of this wonderful event. Students got the chance to know not only the Chinese culture but also the history of Chinese characters. During their writing practice, they started to recognize and appreciate the Chinese characters and hence culture enhancement from the International students. This event couldn’t have been possible without Library of Jiading Campus, and the Ink Cabin of Calligraphy Association and English Corner from Jiading Campus jointly organized it.

Many students were very impressed by the Chinese calligraphy; hence a student from Germany commented that, “Chinese calligraphy is so beautiful!” At the start of the event, students from the English corner briefly introduced Chinese calligraphy to overseas students, who were eager to learn how to write Chinese characters after enjoying works of students from the Calligraphy Association. Many overseas students found this experience was quite new and interesting as it was the first time that they had written Chinese calligraphy with writing brushes. With the help of kind volunteers, International students made great progress in calligraphy that at first some students were having troubles holding the writing brush but later they were able to write Chinese characters in shapes from crooked ones in a standard way, and were unwilling to leave until the closing time. A special thanks goes out to the kind volunteers and the international students who participated in this joyous event. Many students suggested that organizers should conduct more activities like Chinese calligraphy.

It is said that a greater diversity of activities organized by Jiading library featuring Chinese culture will keep on being introduced to overseas students, in order to help them understand the Chinese culture, hence enhancing cultural exchanges between students in China and abroad.
