On the evening of May 12, the first session of Tongji University’s “High-end International Forum" was held in College of Design and Innovation (D&I). Ken Friedman, D&I’s chair professor of Design and Innovative Studies, as well as a distinguished professor at Swinburne University of Technology in Australia, gave a special lecture onResearch Writing. The lecture attracted more than 150 teachers and students.

Prof. Friedman has conducted in-depth research on the organization, culture and design in a knowledge-based economic environment. He has a good knowledge of SCI research paper writing as well as English language presentations in science and technology. Based on his rich experience, Prof. Friedman explained the basic methods of writing scientific research papers in English and the details that need to be taken into account. He also illustrated how to state and interpret research programs vividly with clear and concise wording. He also introduced the audience to a set of methods that should be used in writing high-quality SCI research papers. After the lecture, Prof. Friedman patiently gave serious answers to teachers and students’ questions. All the attending students said that they benefitted a lot from Prof. Friedman’s wonderful lecture.

Ken Friedman is D&I’s chair professor of Design and Innovation Studies, as well as a distinguished professor at Swinburne University of Technology in Australia. He used to be Dean of the Institute of Design at Swinburne University of Technology. Professor Friedman has been dedicated to the cross-field research of design, art and management for a long time. He is the editor-in-chief ofShe Ji: the Journal of Design, Economics and Innovation, which is published online by Tongji University in collaboration with Elsevier, as well as the joint chief editor of theDesign Thinking, Design Theorybook series, which is published by the MIT Press.
