More than 140 countries and organizations participated in The Expo Milano 2015 which opened on May 1st. The Expo site covers an area of one million square meters. Industrial products and foods, cultures and traditions, as well as advanced technologies from all over the world are being displayed. On April 28th, a special exhibition of the Expo Milano 2015 themed as “the Expo connects China and Italy” was inaugurated at the museum on the Siping Road Campus of Tongji University. It was the only authorized special exhibition of Expo Milano 2015 in Shanghai at that time. At the end of May, the exhibition will be moved to the Jiading Campus.

The exhibition is composed of four sections, which include: Instruction of Expo Milano, Construction of Expo Milano, Clusters, and the Chinese Corporate Joint Pavilion. As the main part of the exhibition, the section Construction of Expo Milano highlighted the pavilions of countries and enterprises, displayed the design paper, and photos and videos of the construction sites of over thirty pavilions, including those of the China Pavilion.

The placement of the exhibition is simple, but novel. Slender wooden bars formed various spaces. Visitors can easily read the captions of the exhibits hanging from the bars. According to the designer from Tongji, the design of the exhibition followed the idea of sustainability. The principal materials were paper and wood. Through ingenious interaction, the exhibition paid a tribute to the “game paddle” creative concept of the Italy Pavilion of Expo Shanghai 2010 and provided an access to experience the World Expo for visitors.
