This year marks the 70thanniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. In order to build the education and propaganda of the socialist core values in youths, to further conduct the cyber civilization voluntary action of youth, and to orient the members of the CYL and netizens to cherish the memory of our revolutionary martyrs, to remember history, to inherit the national spirit and to arouse their patriotic enthusiasm, the committees of the Communist Youth Leagues (CLY) of Tongji University and the Yangpu District collaboratively held a new media platform for the Youth of Tongji and the Youth of Yangpu District. This event was an online wreath-laying memorial activity for the revolutionary martyrs during the Qingming Festival; it received positive responses from the participating youth.
The memorial activity consisted of both an online and an offline format and was designed to encourage youth and students to remember the revolutionary martyrs. They were able to easily take part in the memorial ceremony held on the internet or they could personally lay wreaths in front of the monument of the revolutionary martyrs by themselves or by entrusting responsibility to the journalistic team of the Youth of Tongji. Over five thousand people took part in the activity during the two day event.
On the morning of April 6th, the journalistic teams of the Youth of Tongji and of the Youth of Yangpu, student representatives from Tongji University and some residents in Yangpu District visited the QIU Shaoyun Memorial Hall located in the Shaoyun Middle School. They laid a wreath at the statue of QIU Shaoyun and made bows in respect. They then visited the Memorial Park of the January 29thStudent Movement on the Siping Road Campus. Deep condolences and respect were expressed to the revolutionary martyrs.

During the Qingming Festival, various kinds of memorial activities for the revolutionary martyrs were held by the organizations of the CYL at Tongji. The School of Automobile Engineering held a poetry reading. The School of Geodesy and Geomatics held a propaganda activity. The School of Economics and Management held an ideological education activity and the students on the Student All-round Development Project of Tongji University visited the Memorial for the Battle of Wusong and Shanghai in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
The spirit of the revolutionary martyrs is the immortal root and monument of our nation. It is the commitment of our youth to remember the history and to inherit the martyrs’ spirit. With this spirit, let’s struggle for the achievement of the Chinese Dream!
