Shanghai Tianyou Hospital Officially Opened

The opening ceremony of Shanghai Tianyou Hospital was held on the Huxi Campus of Tongji University on March 30thafter 4 years’ preparation. It is the first general hospital in Shanghai employing a mixed economic system, and is an affiliated hospital of Tongji University. The hospital adopted a medical service mode which conforms to the medical reform and development strategy of the State. It is a new achievement in the development of the privately operated hospitals in China.

President PEI Gang, on behalf of Tongji University, extended congratulations to the opening of Shanghai Tianyou Hospital. He noted that Tongji grew out of the German Medical School founded by a German doctor 108 years ago. Since then it has always been one of the goals of Tongji to provide high-quality medical services to the public. The opening of Tianyou Hospital represents a new landmark in the progress of Tongji’s medical development. It shows Tongji’s determination to contribute to the health care of Shanghai and of the Putuo District.

Shanghai Tianyou Hospital is a general hospital employing a mixed economic system. The hospital not only provides the basic medical service for patients with medical insurance, but also meets the requirements of VIP service. The hospital covers a total area of 50,000 square meters and offers 520 beds. It has 32 clinical and technical departments, including six key disciplines and three clinical specialties.
