On April 1st, 2015, “Green City and Sustainable Development – Water Resources Management and Water Treatment” workshop was closed in Tongji University. 8 participants from 6 African courntries obtained the certificates in the closing ceremony.

In the closing ceremony, Professor Li Fengting, the vice dean of IESD, firstly expressed his congratulations to all the exellent participants. Subsequently, he gave a speech on China's urban drinking water treatment technology and process, focusing on the production and application of water treatment chemicals. Mr.Philip Githii Gichuki, the Managing Director from Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Co. Ltd reviewed the cooperation between Tongji University and his company. And he expressed thanks to Tongji University for capacity building and technology transfer in drinking water treatment, sewage treatment and industrial wastewater treatment. Dr. Wang Xin, the vice dean of IESD, gave a speech on the experience of urban planning in Shanghai.

The 10-day workshop (March 23rd – April 1st) focused on the water and wastewater treatment technologies. Through a large number of field visits and case studies, the technicians from Africa effectively improved their actual operation ability, promoting the long-term in-depth cooperation between China and Africa. So far, the Green City and Sustainable Development – Water Resources Management and Water Treatment” workshop was concluded successfully.
