Tongji Pioneering Valley launched the first phase of the Eagle Project and held the Projects Investment Promotion in the 410 Lecture Hall, Complex Building, Siping Road Campus of Tongji University on the afternoon of March 24th. According to the head of the Committee of Communist Youth League of Tongji University, “The goals of Tongji Pioneering Valley are incubating innovation projects, cultivating creative talents, and providing service for pioneering projects.” It is committed to promoting the collaboration of the university, enterprise, government, society and capital by helping students achieve their dreams of starting their own businesses. Fifty-nine projects have entered the valley and nearly one hundred activities have been held with the participation of over 8000 students. It has received wide attention from the university and the public for its strong support in the aspects of policy, credit and fund offerings to every student who runs his or her own business.

The projects investment promotion was the key step of the incubation of innovative projects. Through interactive oral presentations, it provided a platform of self display to those students who have their own innovative ideas and the motivation to start their own businesses. In a three-minute presentation, webcasted on the internet, each candidate project team presented the market value, core technology, business schedule, major breakthrough and development plan of its project to the jury and the audience. The five judges asked one question to the project team and then the project team had a chance to ask a question of the judges. According to the project team’s performance in the presentation and in the Q&A program, the jury decided whether the project team passed. Every project team that passed the judging was awarded 1000 yuan in an initial fund, while the teams with the best performances received 5000 yuan. The entire fund was generously donated by 2345.com.

After nearly four hours of oral presentations, 26 teams from 17 schools, including the Schools of Physical Science and Engineering, of Humanities, of Civil Engineering, of Electronics and Information Engineering, of Automobile Engineering and the Law School won a total of 92,000 yuan in initial funding. Nine project teams won the 5000 yuan fund for their excellent performances, which included Touch Cartography and Promotion, City Safety Map, Dreamair, Design and Marketing of Sustainable Living Supplies, and the Tailor Innovative Design Studio. They impressed the judges very much with their creative ideas and flexible applications.
