The celebration of this Lunar New Year focused on the themes like low carbon, homesickness and the atmosphere of lunar New Year. The atmosphere of lunar New Year reflects the homesickness of people away from home. More and more people choose to celebrate their festival in a low-carbon way to protect the environment.

The promotion official of the CPC Committee of Tongji University organized jointly with the News Center of Tongji University a themed social media interactive activity: Low-Carbon Ways of Celebrating Lunar New Year: Sustainable Development in my Hometown. It called on students of Tongji to publicize their low-carbon ideas of celebrating the lunar New Year on social media like Weibo, and to observe and record the actions and achievements of sustainable development in their hometowns during the winter holiday.

During the Spring Festival holiday, students from Tongji University not only practiced their environmentally friendly lifestyles in their hometowns, but also recorded the changes of their hometowns brought by sustainable development. Meanwhile, they tried to support the sustainable development of their hometowns by doing of investigation to provide feedback and promoting basic science to the public.
