On the evening of Dec 17th, as a part of Tongji University Arts Festival activities, a special performance of the Tongji University Choir was held in Auditorium 129.
The performance began with an inspiring chorus,On theWay to Rejuvenation. The inspiring melody and enthusiastic singing delivered plenty of positive energy. The performers’ red costumes also impressed the audience a lot. This special performance had tracks with various styles, such as the short and bright song,To the Youth; the tender song,Where has Time Gone, which has touched thousands of Chinese people; the classical song,On Wings of Songs; the holy and pure anthem,Amazing Graceand the beloved,Ode to Ireland. All of the songs showed the choir members’ grasp of different art styles and their determination to constantly make progress in the field of music. Choir members also performed:The River of No ReturnandSeal Lullaby. These two songs had won the first prize in the Shanghai Stop of the National College Student Variety Show Tour and again won a round of wild applause from the audience. The choir also demonstrated their excellent singing skills and profound artistic culture by performing the very difficult fourth movement of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony,Ode to Joy. The special performance perfectly ended with a joyful variation of the Christmas carol,Jingle Bells.
In addition, a special performance was also held in the Jirenlou Auditorium of the Jiading campus on Dec 19th. These special performances of Tongji University Choir, called Concord of December, were the choir’s last performances for this year. The success of these performances relied not only on the industrious talent of choir’s professional teachers, but also on the emphasis and support given by school leaders. The students’ choir will continue to reveal their charm by carrying out their musical activities for the purpose of making contributions to the constant prosperity of our Tongji campus culture.
