On the morning of December 13th, an Open Week for Jiading Campus’s tenth anniversary celebration was held by the College of Art and Media, which was officially opened in the Weixin Building. With the original theme of “Innovating, Enterprising, Integrating and Opening,” the Open Week fully displayed the new look of the College of Art and Media.
The Open Week activities were divided into four sections including: the “New Media Frontier Forum,” the “Artistic Experience--A Classic and Romantic Trip,” the “Awards Ceremony honoring the School of Art and Media and the New Year’s party” and the “Works of Art and Media Presentation.”
Also on December 13th, two grand "New Media Frontier Forums" were held in the auditorium of the Weixin Building. The theme of the morning section was "New Media and Social Development", which attracted many academic celebrities. The forum interpreted the social development from a new perspective of the media and discussed how to apply these theories of media studies into social development. The theme of afternoon session was "Global Cities and Cultural Communication". Many experts thoroughly discussed the efforts, from a cultural perspective, that Shanghai should make in its progress towards becoming a global city. "New Media and Social Development Research Center" and Shanghai's first "Global Urban Culture Communication Center" also held their opening ceremonies in the forum.
At the same time, an artistic experience themed as "A Classic and Romantic Trip" was presented in the Weixin Building. Throughout the Open Week, teachers and students of the Arts and Media College majoring in dance, music, acting, vocal music and other majors gave a gift of art as well as visual and auditory banquets to everyone. During the Open Week, the college also provided students with a platform to show their individual works, which highlighted the great success of the college’s programs and of the students' vibrancy and creativity.
The Open Week held by College of Art and Media for celebrating Jiading’s tenth anniversary not only brought the arts and academic feasts to teachers and students, but it also provided a solid foundation for the bright future of the college.
