This year is the tenth year since the founding of the Jiading campus in 2004. During this decade, there have been countless people and many noteworthy events to be noted and recognized. People who have lived in Jiading for a very long time cherish the stories and experience an increasing love for the campus. These people are the root of the ‘Spirit of Jiading’ and have created the ‘Jiading style’.

We invited some of the dedicated Jiading personnel to share with us some of their beautiful memories. We also invite all of the Tongji students and faculty to be grateful and to applaud the folks of Jiading Campus for their persistence and devotion.

During this decade, in each classroom and in each meeting students have learned and problems have been discussed and resolved. As a result, learning and living on the Jiading campus has become more convenient as campus personnel have worked hard to pave a better future. Ten years translates into 11,000 hours of hard work. Many people have even spent 1400 hours commuting between campuses. These folks are the vanguard of the Jiading campus, witnessing the Jiading campus from its barren beginning to its now bright future. These hardy people have proven themselves to be the inseparable family of the Jiading staff by their persistence and love for this wonderful campus.

There are many devoted employees whose labor and silent love continually nourish our hearts. They love the campus and their dedicated service warms students and shows in every part of the school. Some examples include: Ms QIAO Yuhua, who is in charge of cleaning the dormitory building. She has disposed of 10,300 bags of trash and provided us with clean and neat dorms. Mr. ZHAO Xiuzeng who provides every meal for the students; he has cooked more than 750,000 kilos of meat which is enough for 100 families of three to eat for more than 27 years. Ms DONG Zhongju has spent 250,000 minutes patrolling dormitories, which is the length of 5,600 classes. LING Aihua, the nurse, takes care of all the 40,000 teachers and students every year in the university resolving health concerns and illnesses. Ms DING Ning who serves as the librarian is responsible for the collection of 300,000 books and guards the students’ spiritual gardens. Let's pick up a magnifying glass and look at the Jiading Campus’s surroundings closely and we will find these busy people are working for our well-being. Let us express our gratitude to them for their faithful service.

The Jiading campus has grown for a decade and this time seems as short as one moment. Now, let’s focus on the next ten years. Surely, in this second decade there will be even more amazing changes, which will add further light and knowledge to everyone here, resulting in an even happier life!
