The New Think Tank of Tongji University to Closely Connect with the National Strategy

December 24, 2014

"The future of humanity mainly depends on the future of cities. Sustainable urban development will provide solutions to some of the key issues in global development.” UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in regards to the approaching first World Cities Day. The establishment of World Cities Day is closely related to the efforts of academic leaders in our university. Related leaders said that needed breakthroughs in the field of sustainable development is important for not only our national strategy, but for all of humanity. Tongji University is making its contribution by focusing on the construction of a new Think Tank, which is achieving fruitful results.

The guiding ideology of the Tongji Think Tank is to provide sustainable solutions to the strategic needs of Shanghai and the state. Through applied research, Tongji consultants are strategically focusing on the significant issues relating to the economic, political, cultural and social development that are needed to build a culture of conservation. This work is also a way to strengthen the party and our international relations. A liberal arts office spokesperson stated, “The University takes advantage of its discipline and personnel and is building professional teams and special databases to achieve the goal of providing timely suggestions to the decision-makers.”
