The Zhiyuan Team from the School of Automotive Studies at Tongji University was invited recently the 14thtime to compete in the Honda Japan Energy Efficiency Contest. Running 1457.295km/L in the preliminary sessions and breaking its oversea contest record, Zhiyuan Team won the fourth place in the final of the New Challenge Group, running 1327.035km/L (i.e. running a distance of 1327.035 km per liter of petroleum).

The Honda Japan Energy Efficiency Contest has a history of 34 years and is one of the oldest energy efficient contests, with over 400 teams across the globe participate in the contest yearly. The Contest is aimed to seek the best approach to address the energy crisis and environmental pollution, to raise public awareness in energy-saving and environment protection. The Zhiyuan Team representing Tongji University has participate 14 times in the Contest and is the most experienced overseas automotive team signing up for Honda Japan.
