On July 19th, 2014 Shanghai College Students West China Volunteering Project Launch Ceremony was held in Shanghai Young Cadre Administration College. There was a communication part arranged for sharing experience as a volunteer in West China. 2014 graduate student Li Mingming from Tongji school of electronics and information delivered a speech as a volunteer representative, vowing to devote himself to the development of his hometown Zunyi in Gui zhou.


The university has 17 students participating in the project this year. After interview and physical examination, considerations of political background and academic performance, there were 7 students selected. They received training including ethnic policy, career planning, team building, emergent medical service, sudden emergency processing etc. They will go to Chongqing, Yunnan, Tibet, Guizhou, Xinjiang to do their volunteering work in terms of basic education, medical treatment and public health, agricultural techniques, work-floor youth administration etc.
