On Dec. 6, 2013 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\ Architecture held the open ceremony at Shenzhen. The main theme of this biennale is “Urban Border”. As the joint curator, Prof. Lou Yongqi, Dean of Design and Innovation College, Tongji University, Vice Executive Director of Sino-Finnish Centre took charge of the curation of “Design for Urban-Rural Interaction” exhibition section.“Design for Urban-Rural Interaction” exhibition aims to rethink the relationship between urban and rural areas as well as design disciplines’ role under urbanization. There are 11 projects from home and abroad for this exhibition, “Design Harvests” of Tongji University and Studio Tao, “Innovative Food Network” of Qinghua University are included. The exhibition also gained support from DESIS.

On Dec.7, Prof. Lou Yongqi presided over a crossing urban Border dialogue about “Exploring the Social Boundary: Design for Urban-Rural Interaction” in the Border warehouse. The exhibitors above introduced their own projects, defining the opportunities and challenges of “Urban Border”.
