In November and December, 2013, Associate Professor Margherita Emma Turvani from University IUAV of Venice gave lectures on Ecological Economics to the Master and PhD candidates of Environment Management at IESD. Prof. Turvani’s main research interests are in Sustainability & Economics, focusing on Land and Urban Sustainability. At IUAV, she has been teaching regional economics and policy, and environmental economics.

This course is part of the Ecological Economics curriculum. As students from IESD are mainly from environmental science or environmental engineering background, lacking economic knowledge, Prof. Turvani introduced some basic information of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics first. Then she made a connection between ecology and economic, and talked about trade and policy at the end. Students who chose this course were required to work in groups of three people to discuss some topics about ecological economics and made the final presentation.
