On the evening of Dec.5th, “Chinese Corner” organized by the School of Economics and Management together with the SEM International Department was held in Yuntong Building. This activity is aimed to help overseas students solve the problems they have met in learning Chinese and to enhance their understanding of Chinese culture. On the whole, the activity proved to be fruitful.
After overseas students were led into the classroom, they first had free talks with staff members. A relaxing atmosphere soon filled the room. Then they were given well-prepared tutorship on Chinese, which was based on the contents of their textbooks and therefore quite pertinent. Students were all highly concentrated, busy taking notes down. After the tutorship, they were presented with an introduction of a most ancient form of Chinese characters---inscriptions on tortoise bones. Of course, the interaction section was also important. It consisted of games and quizzes involving Chinese grammar as well as Chinese cultural common senses, towards which students all reacted passionately.
“Chinese Corner” not only effectively helps overseas students study Chinese, but also let all participants obtain happiness and promote friendship with each other. Hopefully, this activity will continue and it will be more enjoyable and colorful.
