On the afternoon of March 15, 2013, Professor Zha Mingjian from Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) was invited to visit at School of Foreign Languages (SFL), Tongji and delivered an academic report on "Translation Studies in Comparative Literature". Professor Chen Lin hosted the seminar, and other professors as well as some faculties and students attended the seminar.

Currently, the head of school of English in Shanghai International Studies University, Professor Zha also holds concurrent posts as doctoral supervisor of English Language and Literature and doctoral supervisor of World Literature and Comparative Literature at SISU. Professor Zha has so far published 6 monographs, more than 40 core journal papers.

In the lecture, Professor Zha refered to translation as an important part of research study in comparative literature. By distinguishing the differences between translation studies in comparative literature and the general translation studies, Professor Zha explained the nature, theory and approaches of translation studies in comparative literature. Furthermore, he illustrated the research issue in translation literature----the significant part of his lecture. At last, Professor Zha gave us a piece of advice: Only if we explore deeper into the reasons behind the phenomena can we make some valuable researches.

At the question-and-answer time, Professor Zha conducted in-depth exchanges with attendees. Professor Zha truly impressed everyone present with his easily-understandable explanation, and also greatly aroused their academic interest. The lecture was really a cultural and academic feast.
