October 11, 2013, the winners of 2013 1st semester of Bayer-Tongji SD Chair Scholarship and 2013 IESD students were invited to visit the Bayer Integrated Site Shanghai (BISS). BISS is the largest and most important production base of Bayer Material Science in the entire Asia-Pacific region, located in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, covers an area of approximately 1.5 km2. So far, the total investment has reached 2 billion euros for coatings raw materials, polycarbonate and polyurethane raw materials production.
The visit was led by the Bayer's engineers, mainly introducing the layout of the production zone, as well as the energy-saving facilities in the production chain. In this process, students had presented a series of problems about waste water treatment and exhaust emissions in the production zone, which had been carefully answered by the engineers of Bayer Group.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of BISS, Dr. Roland Stegmueller awarded the certificates of 5 winners of 2013 1ST semester of Bayer-Tongji SD Chair Scholarship.
