Motorcade Zhiyuan broke performance record in Honda Energy-saving competition

Motorcade Zhiyuan from our school of automotive studied participated in the Soichiro Honda Cup Energy-saving Competition on Oct.5-6. This was the 13rd times for them to go to Japan for the competition. With the new record 1423.365KM/L, Motorcade Zhiyuan surpassed the 2011 record of 1104.006km/L, gaining the best result since using EFI, pulling up to the second place in the New Challenge Group.

There were 8 members in the motorcade, driver Shi Lihua, technical director Zhang Ye, vehicle leader Zhang Sirui, engine leader Peng Xiucheng, transmission leader Chen Guichen and etc. Under the supporting of school innovation base and the guidance of Professor Lou Diming, motorcade Zhiyuan converted electric car to gasoline one, using EFI 50cc power source system, greatly improving the performance of the car.

Since 2002, the first time for motorcade Zhiyuan designing and producing racing car by its self, the team already participated in several competitions at home and abroad, such as Honda Japan Energy-saving Competition, Honda China Energy-saving Competition, Shell International Energy-saving Eco Marathon Competition and etc.

The Honda Energy-Saving Competition started in 1981 in Japan and has 33 years long history. In the competition, players maximize the efficient use of energy, explore new ideas to create a new energy-saving low-carbon life, and show their wisdom and faith eagerly. China is the 3rd country to organize the competition after Japan and Thailand. The motorcade Zhiyuan will go to Guangzhou for Honda China Energy-saving Competition on Oct.26th.
