2013 Tongji on Tracks Final Report Ended Successfully

On July 5th, “2013 Tongji on Tracks Final Report cum 2014 Tongji on Tracks Brainstorming” was successfully held in SFC. Participated in the meeting were representatives from cooperative enterprise as Fuyu from East Training Planning Manager, Belle (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, Wu Mei, Services Promotion Manager of Central Community Development Project in Yangpu District, Shui On Land Limited, General Manager Wang Bin from Shanghai Utag Information Technology Co., Ltd, together with Siemens (China) University Cooperation Department Manager Zhou Zhen Sheng, JCDecaux Advertising Co., director Xu Yongming. Deputy director of SFC Professor Lou Yongqi and Director of Area of the Americas, Li Jing from International and Coorperation Office, Tongji University also attended. Three-month innovative learning journey was finally concluded in the wonderful exhibition of students’ achievements and guests’comments and summary.

Briefing on the topic “User-based DIY mode Belle APP Design”, team representative Gao Xinyu, Zheng Mengru first demonstrated their iPad version of the application. User can design their own shoes via choosing different color, texture, shape from style library. In addition, they can also share their works among communities and exchange ideas with other designers. Belle trademark purple is selected as the basic tone of APP interface, with roulette slider as the primary key, hereby equipped with both beautiful and superb maneuverability.

The next two groups presented their gainings from “Study on Comfort of women’s shoes and Conceptual Footwear Design”. It is worth mentioning that each group was largely inspired from the cross-border travel inspiration. The first group made the initial model during their trip, and they aim at encouraging more people to “Bring your shoes and enjoy travelling.” WangLuo Sijia pulled and flipped rapidly changing shoe shape within seconds. Light and flexible, you can also make full use of other components such as lace shoes back to conduct more combinations. Moreover, shoe shape is also incorporated with Russian classic style features. Works of the second group of demonstrated students’ fabulous mixing of architectural elements and shoes. Students enchanted deeply by beauty of geometry, architecture, and bridge structure while traveling in Europe. And they adopted those elements in their design. Zhong Shuting showed their finished product manufactured by the 3D printer. Crystal, and beautiful with elegant lines, the shoe received high accolade from the guest and audience. They also put forward that customers’ sizes could be scanned, collected, and upload to company database, awaiting further using when high-tech, such as 3D printing technology become more popular an mature.

The next three groups showed us their iPhone interactive applications designed for Knowledge and Innovation Community. During the Tongji on Tracks trip, students from different disciplines addressed themselves vigorously to the tutor’s suggestion. After brainstorming, users’ demand analysis, framework design and prototype forming, these groups offered us their ingenious applications. Besides, two of these groups leafleted their pamphlets and badges.

Last group ‘iWill’ Public Welfare New Media Marketing Program was tutored by Mr. Wang Bin, who graduated from Tongji University and the general manager of Shanghai Utag Company. This group showed us the application and introduced how to join social commonweal work while doing exercises. Audiences approved their excellent idea. Mr. Wang said he used to feel confused about profit model and how to attract young people and regarded that Tongji on Tracks provided him a perfect cooperation opportunity. This cooperation will be a good start for combining companies with young entrepreneurs. He encouraged young people that creation was valuable and creation involved from the young.

Mrs. Fu Yu, represent of Belle and Mr. Lou Yongqi delivered the closing remarks. Based on personal experience, Mrs. Fu hoped that students could remain their unconstrained imagination and encouraged students to put emphasis on practice to realize their dream and make greater achievement in their career paths. Mr. Lou encouraged students to break the bonds of convention and design for creating felicity. He said, creating something from scratch is felicity, I hope that Sino-Finnish Centre could meet students’ demands and be a place for budding ideas growing freely.

At last, the honored guests awarded students certificates. Danny also organized a brainstorm, all the participants offering their thoughts and advice about Tongji on Tracks and Sino-Finnish Centre’s work in the future. As a student says, Sino-Finnish is a warm family, and everybody shall work together to make Sino-Finnish a better place that admired by more people. Besides, we shall keep on our innovative learning as well.
