Dr. ZHAO Jin, professor of German department at SFL, Tongji University has won the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany. She is the first Tongji faculty member to do so.

As one of the internationally renowned scholars in German language and linguistics, Dr. ZHAO Jin focuses on the linguistic analysis, Intercultural communication, Text linguistic and semantic. Her outstanding research contribution was granted the prestigious Bessel Award at a ceremony held in Bamberg city on March 15, 2013.

The Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award is one of the most coveted awards the German Government gives to brilliant researchers. A total of 49 scientists among those honored by the Foundation have won the Nobel Prize.

Professor Zhao is carrying on her further research in Germany.
