On Mar. 14th, ‘Bayer-Tongji: Together for China Dream’, co-organized by UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment of Sustainable Development(IESD) and Bayer Group in Greater China, was held in Room 105 Xuri Buildng, Prof. Wolfgang Plischke, Member of the Bayer AG (Holding) Board of Management, Chair Member of IESD visited Tongji University. Academician Gang PEI, President of Tongji University welcomed warmly. Mr. Johannes M. Dietsch, President of Bayer Group in Greater China, Prof. Fengting LI, Vice Dean of IESD, Dr. Xin WANG, Vice Dean of IESD, Prof. Zhuoping YU, Dean of School of Automotives, Prof. Zhenghong YANG, Secretary of the Party Committee, School of Material Science and Engineering, Prof. Qianwei XU, Professor of School of Material Science and Engineering, and Prof. Xiaohai LIU, Professor of School of Law attended this meeting.
During the meeting, the representatives of IESD, School of Automotives, School of Material Science and Engineering, and School of Law introduced their collaborative programs to Prof. Plischke and President PEI. Prof. Plischke fully affirmed the outstanding performance in these four cooperative areas, and conveyedthat the Bayer-Tongji cooperation will be further strengthened and expanded in the future.
After the meeting, President PEI awarded the Honorary Professorship to Prof. Plischke in C301, Sino-French Center. In addition, they signed the Bayer-Tongji Sustainable Development Chair renewal (2013-1015) Intent Letter. President PEI indicated in the welcome remarks that Tongji needs to raise the banner of "Sustainability". IESD, as an umbrella for Tongji Sustainable Development and the collaboration between Tongji and Bayer, needs to extend cooperation to all directions, including the life science, health, food security and other hot fields.
Prof. Plischke delivered a speech on “Sustainability requires Innovation” for all the audiences.
