Tongji gradually developed comprehensive cooperation with Germany focusing on research on German and sustainable development. Sino-German Research and Innovation Cooperation Program on Clean Water was held at the Sino-German College of Graduate Studies of Tongji University. This program belongs to the first Sino-German government consultation project, and Tongji University is the technical leading institution of the Chinese side. The establishment of Sino-Europe Engineering Doctoral School was applied and submitted. Under the framework of Tongji-Berkeley Alliance, an exchange agreement was signed at the postgraduate level in the field of engineering and an international post-doctoral program would be jointly carried out. Tongji signed agreements on double-degree programs respectively with Georgia Institute of Technology and University of Hawaii in the field of architecture at the postgraduate and doctoral level.
