On January 15th, Vice President Wu Zhiqiang met Mr. Pekka Soini, the Director General of Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, SFC Executive Vice Director Lou Yongqi and Professor Liu Fuqiang from School of Electronic and Information attended the meeting.

Mr. Soini learned about the status and development of Sino-Finnish Centre, and then two sides communicated the relativity of research and industry, as well as the evaluation metrics. Vice President Wu introduced Tongji’s research and achievements in smart city, which attracted Mr. Soini’s attention and interests.

Mr. Soini and Tongji’s leadership exchanged ideas on the innovation of higher education, the evaluation and employment system of faculty, choice of major for students majored in engineer, etc.. He spoke highly of SFC as a positive reference for Tongji and Aalto University in the higher education reform.

Besides, Mr. Soini also introduced the fund for Sino-Finnish international cooperation projects and intellectual exchange from the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. He encouraged Tongji’s professors and Aalto professors to co-apply research projects. Vice President Wu Zhiqiang expressed thankfulness and decided to talk in details about the applications when teachers and students of Tongji on Tracks and members of SFC Advisory Board Meeting visit Aalto University in Finland this June.
