From November 5th to 7th, 12 representatives from Aalto University IR and Communications team took a visit to Tongji University. Tongji Communication Office, International Office, related colleges, International Platform Colleges and Sino-Finnish Centre organized abundant activities.

In the first day, Aalto delegation took a visit to Finnish Consulate in Shanghai and listened to a lecture focusing on Chinese society, Finnish actors in China and Sino-Finnish cooperation. In the afternoon, representatives visited Nordic Centre in Fudan University.

On November 6th at Sino-Finnish Center, Ms Feng Yiping, Deputy Director from Tongji International Exchange & Cooperation Office and Ms Suurmunne, Head of International Relations from Aalto respectively gave presentations on each other’s international exchange affairs and internationalization means. Then the Communication team visited Tongji Communication Office, Kong Deyi, Vice Minister of Tongji Communication Office, showed the delegation around at the website office, media office, newspaper editorial department and newsroom. Representatives showed great interest and appreciation to the abundant branches of Tongji Communication Office. At the same time, International offices of both schools continued sharing working experience. Afterwards, delegation visited around Sino-Finnish Centre and hosted a student fair.

On the last day, presentations about Chinese values, mentality and Finnish Society, culture were presented by both sides at Sino-Finnish Centre. Then representatives were divided into two groups, one group took a minibus to Jia Ding campus and visited Sino-German College of Applied Science, College of Electronics and Information Engineering, College of Material Science and Engineering, College of Mechanical Engineering, College of Software Engineering, the other group visited IFCIM, CDHK, Sino-Italian Campus and IESD. The delegation was deeply impressed by Tongji international platform colleges and the achievements of each college.

From this visit, Aalto representatives gained insight and information on Chinese Culture, educational system and the broader agenda of Finland in China. Both have reached many beneficial agreements on how IR and Communications could promote the strategic partnership and further development of Aalto-Tongji strategic partnership.
