October 22nd, Mr. Allen M. Turner, Chairman of the Board of Columbia College Chicago’s Board of Trustees, Partner of Pritzker Organization, and Dr. Warrick L. Carter, President of Columbia College Chicago visited Tongji. President Pei Gang, Vice Presidents Jiang Bo, Wu Jiang, Wu Zhiqiang met the delegation and exchanged views on ways to promote collaboration in the fields of new media, communication and arts, and architecture and urban planning.
Both sides reviewed the exciting achievements made in faculty and student exchange since the signing of MOU and agreed that the Columbia College Chicago and Tongji’s School of Communication and Art have similar curricula which are the basis for cooperation. More ways of exchange will be explored in future to expand collaboration, particularly in young faculty exchange and double degree cooperation. Practices of humanities and arts education on the part of Columbia College Chicago may also be another area of cooperation.
After the meetings, the delegation had a talk with young faculty members of the School of Communication and Art before visiting the College of Architecture and Urban Planning. Dialog between Tongji faculty and students, and Mr. Allen M. Turner, President Warrick L. Carter, and Prof. Zhang Yonghe from Tongji was held with a theme of “Pritzker Prize coming to China”.
