On October 15th, China-US Undergraduate Education Workshop jointly organized by Tongji and American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) was held at Sino-French Center on Siping Campus. Vice President Jiang Bo chaired the workshop and delivered a welcome speech. Representatives of AASCU, member universities, China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), and Tongji’s Undergraduate Teaching Office, Development and Planning Office, Education Reform Office, Graduate School, Liberal Arts Office, Research Institute for Higher Education, College of Architecture and Urban Planning, School of Economics and Management, Law School, College of Professional Education, International Office attended the workshop.

Vice President Chen Yiyi gave a presentation on Tongji’s Educational Practice of Excellent Talent, and He Minjuan, Director of Undergraduate Teaching Office raised issues of management, quality control and professor participation in undergraduate education for discussion between both sides. George Mehaffy, Vice President of AASCU presented on Challenges and Future of Higher Education in the New Era, sharing with Chinese participants about their tactics to respond to the emerging technological developments with a highlight on the Red Balloon Project, and Jocelind Gant, Associate Vice President of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, on internationalization of undergraduate curriculum.
